National Apprenticeship Week – Meet Jack
Jack has been kind enough to discuss his apprenticeship experiences and the workplace skills he has learned.
Our company actively promotes apprenticeships, so we’re happy to showcase one of our current apprentices, Jack Margerison, during National Apprenticeship Week.
Jack joined the business as a Design Engineer in 2020 and started a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Apprenticeship in Engineering Design six months later. During his first year with Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA), Jack met the competencies in core syllabus topics such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, maintenance, CAD training and pneumatics to achieve Level 3.
During the past 12 months, Jack has gained theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical experience at Shipham Valves across various product design-related disciplines as he works towards Level 3 extended accreditation.
This two-year apprenticeship program has given him a solid understanding of various aspects of mechanical engineering, product design and familiarisation with several CAD systems. Currently, Jack is supporting projects converting standard designs into bespoke designs.
Upon completion of the level 3 extended program, Jack hopes to apply these workplace skills and work towards a HNC Level 4 in Engineering Design.
Wishing you the best of luck as you work towards the extended level three standard.
