Learn moreThe floating ball valve consists of various components such as the body, ball, stem, seats, end connections and the operator.
Shipham Valves offers a wide range of floating ball valve designs – these designs contain features which have evolved to provide the best possible valve solution for the applications they are used for.
One-Piece, Reduced Bore, Designed in accordance with BS EN ISO 17292, API 608 and API 6D.
The one-piece design is typically used in applications where the fluid inside the valve is considered to be hazardous; with the packing being the only leak path from inside the valve to the atmosphere. This greatly reduces the chances of any leakage from the valve during service.
This valve is available with flanged connections only.
Two-Piece, Full Bore, designed in accordance with BS EN ISO 17292, API 608 and API 6D
The two-piece full-bore design is typically considered a standard industrial ball valve design. With the provision of a full bore, the pressure drop across this valve is kept to a minimum whilst the bolted connection between the body and the connector components allows for easy maintenance.
This valve is available with flanged connections only.
Three-Piece, Full-Bore, designed in accordance with BS EN ISO 17292, API 608 and API 6D.
The three-piece design is often used where maintenance and upkeep are considerations. These valves are easy to assemble and maintain whilst delivering the highest levels of performance.
This valve is available with a wide range of connections including various threads, socket ends, flanges and instantaneous hose couplings.

BA07 - Floating Ball Valve
One-Piece, Reduced-Bore Barstock, designed in accordance with BS EN ISO 17292, API 608 and API 6D.
This barstock valve is manufactured in smaller sizes with all parts being made from bar. These robust valves are typically used in high-pressure applications.
This valve is available only with threaded ends.

The Floating Ball Valve product range includes several features which reflect Shipham Valves’ technical expertise in valve design and unparalleled understanding of user needs and market knowledge.
These features have been developed to satisfy several customer requirements across a diverse range of industries.
All floating ball valves are supplied with a solid ball in accordance with most end-user specifications. The solid ball allows for the specification of corrosion-resistant materials such as Hastelloy® which have a lower strength than more commonly used materials. In contrast to hollow balls, a solid ball does not contain cavities for fluid to circulate in. This ensures that there are no stagnant pockets in the flow through the valve.
All stems on floating ball valves contain an anti-blowout design. They are all entered into the valve body through the central bore of the valve. This ensures there is no possibility of the stem ejecting from the top of the valve when it is in service.
Ball valves are designed to be manufactured in a wide range of materials to allow the product to be supplied to meet a variety of applications and industries. These materials of construction extend to lower-strength corrosion-resistant alloys which are commonly omitted from product ranges.
Shipham Valve’s Floating Ball Valve product range is designed for durability and reliability. These products have a fit-and-forget reputation where they are installed and only considered during relevant service intervals.
Ball valves are the mainstay of most piping systems due to the benefits they deliver.
Shipham Valves’ Floating Ball Valve Range is a highly effective and cost-effective option and supports various industries, including those listed below:
